Individual Health
Insurance

Individual health insurance is something that you really
shouldn't be without, regardless of the cost. Unfortunately, we
as human beings are quite fragile and an unexpected illness or
accident could happen to us at any time without notice.
The consequences of not having medical coverage could be
potentially devastating. Long term hospital care can cost tens
to even hundreds of thousands of dollars and without insurance
to provide coverage you would be facing financial ruin and most
likely bankruptcy.
Having health insurance will give you peace of mind because
having those benefits provides a great amount of security for
most individuals and may even reduce your personal stress.
Those who have individual health insurance usually feel
secure, knowing that if should anything happen to them, they or
their family wouldn't have to worry about the high cost of the
medical treatment.
The concept of healthinsurance first came into play after
World War II, when the U.S. government gave maximum benefits to
its population. In 1950, Medicare, a health insurance program
sponsored by the government, was created for low income people
in the country.
During the 1960s, medical assistance was introduced for the
elderly which offered coverage to the senior population.
Medicare and Medicaid programs were introduced in 1965. They
were both individual health insurance programs by the
government. The Medicaid individual health insurance program
was provided by the Social Security Administration, while the
Social and Rehabilitation Service was the government agency,
which offered Medicaid.
